hmm...

Well, being Texan, it's always been some sort of unwritten rule that I'm not supposed to like a yankee. I never really noticed that, until I started noticing the negative reactions I had when I saw someone was from New York or telling friends I wasn't interested in the people they wanted me to meet if they were from the north.

...but damnit, you yankee boys are mean! ;_;

jasmine and the fight for homos / or / america is made up of two types of people - christians and homosexuals [false]

Okay, in response to this post I'd made the following comment:

...-_- I agree with everything except:

And just so ya know. George Bush isn't trying to descriminate homos. He's ony trying to please Christians and then set up a marrage for them by a government arrangement. He's basicaly trying to compromise both sides.

-_- Sarah, there's obviously a lot about this issue you don't know about, but yes, he IS trying to discriminate against homosexuals. He's trying to write his own personal prejudice into our damned constitution.

And he has NO business trying to please Christians. This is neither a religious issue nor a moral issue it's a CIVIL issue. And just so you know, a civil union doesn't have the same benefits as a marriage. And even if it did, that's separate but equal...hmm, anyone remember what that means?

We can't go by what the majority of people think. The majority of people thought slavery should be kept and that black people and white people shouldn't marry - and mind you, if both of those practices had been kept, I wouldn't be here right now.

You can't go by the majority, you have to go by what's right. And that's not right.

So now I'm pretty much on a thing. I don't really care about what the Christians think about this. I'm not Christian, and I don't care what a heterosexual Christian thinks I should be able to do, because -- and pay attention to this one people --

AMERICA IS NOT A CHRISTIAN COUNTRY. WE ARE NOT GOVERNED BY CHRISTIAN RULES. WE ARE NOT ALL CHRISTIAN AND DAMNIT, WE HAVE FREEDOM OF RELIGION

While I wait for some of the more hardcore idiots to get that through their heads, let's go through this, hmm? Most people are opposed to this on one of two levels

-Religious
-General Stupidity

If you're opposed to this religiously, back down and shut up. Period. I've said it before and I'll say it again - this is not a religious issue.

And if you're opposed to it because you're stupid and the thought of two men marrying each other freaks you out (but, dude, if it's two women, ALRIGHT!) then--well, really, do I have to say anything else?

We cannot let our country be governed by religion and stupidity. We don't CARE about the so called 'sanctity of marriage'. Our divorce rates are proof enough of that. We care about stripping innocent people of their rights, it seems, and that's not something that should continue..
